JUNE IS THE MONTH OF THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS

THE TWELFTH WEEK OF ORDINARY TIME

Dear parishioners,

FIRST HOLY COMMUNIONS

We pray this weekend for our children who are making their first holy communion at all the masses. Due to the restrictions of the pandemic, we have not been able to have the usual Saturday morning classes so we give thanks to God for the mums and dads who have been the primary catechists of their children in the last year. This takes them back to the marriage vows and the commitment made at the baptism of their children when babies, to pass on the Faith to their children and to make the Sacred Heart Jesus the centre of the family home.

I also thank Dorota and Suzie for giving extra support to the parents through the use of social media. Most of all we can thank the Head of our primary school, Mrs Doran-Hanon for the support she has given by helping St Thomas More children through their course book by the use of Google classrooms. The help of the School in preparing our children for First Holy Communion gave us a way ahead in the first months of this year when any social gatherings were impossible, the church closed again for a month and many families even when we reopened were still cautious about joining any social gathering, even at church. Our parish is coming back to life and it is good indeed to see our families back at church. I hope all our children will have a very joyful celebration of their First Holy Communion and with their families afterwards. God bless them.

DEATHS

For all our brothers and sisters who ate the Body of Christ, the bread of Life, that they may be raised up on the Last Day. (Drawn from the intercession of the Funeral Mass)

Please pray for the souls of:

  • Maria Pereira who died on Tuesday 27th April. Her funeral was on Thursday 20th May.

MESSAGE FROM KATHLEEN LEAHY: Kathleen, Tessa, Imelda and family would like to thank everyone who came to Des' Requiem Mass. Your sympathy cards and Mass cards are much appreciated. A special thank you to Fr. Jonathan for his great help and to Tom Breen for arranging the Knights' Farewell Mass for Des who was a faithful Knight for over 60 years.

  • Mark John Norris Paxton who died on Thursday 27th May aged 60. The Funeral Mass was on Thursday 17th June.

(Numbers permitted at Funeral Requiems are still limited due to current regulations. This is estimated on the size of the church building. The same rules applying to all public services in our church apply also for funeral requiems)

May the divine assistance remain with them always, and may their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
