Traditional Latin Mass at Corpus Christi, Maiden Lane (Covent Garden) with Sixteenth Century music from France and Flanders
The Latin Mass Society and its Southwell Consort are celebrating a series of polyphonic Masses taking place at Corpus Christi, Maiden Lane. These Monday evening Masses will feature music by Franco-Flemish composers from the sixteenth century. From January to April the Southwell Consort, under the direction of Dominic Bevan and invited conductors, will perform a series of eight polyphonic Masses showcasing works by composers such as Lassus, Gombert, Rogier, Clemens non Papa and others. Highlights will include Lassus' Missa Bel Amfitrit on Easter Monday and de la Rue's Missa Ave Maria on the feast of the Annunciation. The Traditional Latin Mass provides the original liturgical context for which this music was composed.

Monday 22nd April, 6.30 p.m. Mass of Saints Soter and Caius Missa Praeter Rerum Seriem, de Rore Aurora Lucis Rutilat, Lassus Laboravi in Gemitu Meo, Rogier.
In weeks when the Southwell Consort does not perform, the Houoghton Schola sings traditional Gregorian Chant Corpus Christi, Maiden Lane, London WC2E 2NB. Maiden Lane is five minutes’ walk from Charing Cross Station and next to Covent Garden.

Lenten Scripture Course at St John Fisher, Bexley.
1. Bringing the Old Testament to Life Saturday 24th February 10am-3.30pm. The aim of this parish day is to help participants gain a sense of the Scriptures as a whole and the Old Testament in particular. The main sections of the Old Testament are identified and outlined as we journey through the Old Testament. The day will end with a fresh look at a familiar story….
2. Bringing the New Testament to Life Saturday 9th March 10am-3.30pm.In the New Testament we meet real people communicating with us, sharing their beliefs, their fears and their hopes. On this parish day participants will be offered an overview of the New Testament, an introduction to the various writings and the background of the New Testament: the Roman and Jewish World.
Led by Brian Purfield.
Brian Purfield is a team member at the London Jesuit Centre and has worked alongside the Jesuits since 2001. Prior to that he taught at the International Franciscan Study Centre in Canterbury. He studied theology at the Gregorian University, Rome and at St. Bonaventure’s University, New York. His particular interest is in deepening a knowledge and love of the Scriptures for people, young and old, at a level that they can understand and seek to apply to their daily lives.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2024. Returns after half term break, this Saturday, 24th February. Classes continue next week with Session 7 on Saturday 2nd March at 10. 30 a.m.
CONFIRMATIONS 2024. Anyone who would like to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this year, speak to the parish priest after Sunday mass and ask for an application form. All applications should be returned by the end of February.

This would remove all sanctions in relation to a woman performing her own abortion, effectively allowing abortion pills to be taken up to the point of natural birth.
